The Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church’s parsonage is being renovated so three men from the Northeast Center for Special Care can live in a home instead of a nursing facility for the rest of their lives.
The three men all were paralyzed in accidents, and all of them are in their 20’s & 30’s.
With assistance from the Rural Ulster Preservation Company, the church has received a grant from the Resource Center for Accessible Living, Inc. (RCAL). The grant has enabled the church to modify the parsonage’s bathroom and widen the doorways for the three men’s wheelchairs.
However, the grant does not cover the cost of a chair lift, so the church is trying to raise $3,500 to acquire the lift and install it.
