Preparing for Postsecondary Education

If you are a student with a disability who is planning to continue your education in a postsecondary school, (including vocational and career school, two- and four- year college, or university), you need to be well informed about your rights and responsibilities as well as the responsibilities postsecondary schools have toward you.

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in the US Department of Education, offers information regarding the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities who are preparing to attend postsecondary schools. Please visit their website for the more information and to order their pamphlet entitled: Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know Your Rights and Responsibilities.
